Managed Accounting Services: From Economies of Scale to Economies of Skill

ACCOUNTING TODAY-- Everything would seem to be “as-a-service” these days: infrastructure, platform, software, government, healthcare, storage and more. There is now even the term “anything as a service” or XaaS, which encompasses this entire movement. So, I apologize in advance to adding to the jargon with this discussion of Business-Process-as-a-service (BPaaS) and Managed Accounting Services (MAS).

Partnerships and People help AcctTwo Soar

ACCOUNTING TODAY - OCTOBER 3rd, 2018 - Since its foundation in 2010, Houston-based firm AcctTwo has grown quickly, and has in fact been one of the fastest growing value-added resellers on Accounting Today's VAR 100 list, doubling its revenue between 2015 and today. The firm attributes much of its success to its long-standing partnership with Sage Intacct, this year marking the fifth in a row that AcctTwo won the cloud accounting provider's Partner of the Year award. But the technology partnership has worked hand-in-hand with a successful recruitment and culture-building strategy to make the firm what it is today.

Enterprise Software Buyers Should be Cautiously Optimistic

Brian Sommer has made a career out of analyzing the enterprise software space, and his evaluation of the industry in 2017 is mixed at best.

He talks about some of the themes we have been reporting on for months, including the rise of big data in accounting and new revenue recognition rules. He also talks about cloud ERP reaching maturity and becoming the standard for multiple industries.

His outlook is not entirely positive or even neutral, however. Sommer calls attention to vendors struggling with growing pains and passing on costs to customers. Enterprise HR draws particular ire as companies continue to seek solutions for training and culture on a large-scale. The explosion of overlapping "platforms" is also creating confusion for enterprise software buyers.

Highlights of Sage Intacct's Release 1 2018

Sage Intacct is an industry-leading financial management solution. But in today's rapidly-evolving business world, a static solution can’t remain relevant. The developers behind Sage Intacct understand this, which is why the product is updated four times annually without fail.

These are not minor or cosmetic updates, either. They are based on deep feedback from users and designed to extend and improve the utility of the solution. As a result, Sage Intacct gets better and better every few months.

The first update of 2018 went into effect on February 9, and the additions and enhancements are some of the most significant in the history of the solution. Look forward to these new capabilities:

Fra Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli was a 15th Century Franciscan Friar who is widely considered the father of double-entry accounting. At Sage Intacct's Advantage user conference in Las Vegas in October, Aaron Harris, Sage Intacct Senior Vice President and Head of Engineering and Technology, publicly announced the development of Pacioli as Sage Intacct's next major technological addition to its cloud-based financial management software.
